Title IX

What is Title IX?

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 states:

“No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving federal financial assistance.”

The Title IX Office is charged with monitoring D&E’s compliance with federal, state and institutional policies that promote a non-discriminatory and harassment-free environment. This includes helping to maintain a safe and caring campus environment through prevention education and the investigation of complaints of gender-based discrimination and sexual misconduct.

If you have been a victim of gender discrimination or harassment, sexual assault, relationship violence or stalking, it is helpful to reach out to someone that you know and trust. For information, assistance in accessing services, or to make a report, you may contact any one of the following people:

D&E Joining West Virginia Day of Action

The College will join 16 other campuses and nine rape crisis centers in West Virginia to take a stand against sexual assault.

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month and many organization around the state take time to make their voice heard in the fight.


Kittle Awarded Scholarship to National Training Conference

Amy Kittle, Title IX coordinator at D&E, was awarded a full scholarship from the Association of Title IX Administrators to attend the professional organization’s training conference.
