A component of the Management Program within the Division of Business & Entrepreneurship, the goals of the Center are:
- To enable students to earn the credentials and experience necessary to undertake and succeed in the railway heritage and tourism management industry.
- To have a positive and on-going impact on North American railway heritage and tourism venues, regardless of size, by providing the information and tools needed to help these venues increase interest, attendance, volunteerism and revenue.
D&E Brings Sounds of Railroading to Life
Fiddles replicating shrieking steam whistles and grinding steel wheels. Banjos supplying the rhythm of a train underway. Guitars emulating the driving force of iron horses thundering through ravines. Together they illustrate the sounds of Appalachian mountain railroading in a mournful and celebratory event.
D&E Hosting Sounds of Railroading Conference, Concert
Railroading has its own culture, long shared through folklore and expressed in song. The Center for Railway Tourism at Davis & Elkins College will capture that heritage as it was reflected in traditional music inspired by trains and railroaders at the Sounds of Railroading Conference and Concert, June 3-5.
